As per the announcement by The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR), the official Eid Al Adha holidays 2019 for the public and private sector will be started by 9th Dhul Hijjah till 12th Dhul Hijjah, 1440 AH.
The crescent of Dhul Hijjah 1440 has been sighted on Thursday evening 1st August 2019. The authorities have confirmed the first day of Dhul Hijjah 1440 will be 2nd August 2019. Arafat day will be observed on 9th Dhul Hijjah 1440, 10th August 2019. And Eid Al Adha will be celebrated on 10th, 11th and 12th of the Islamic months, which will be 11th, 12th and 13th August 2019. The public and private sector employees will enjoy four days official Eid Al Adha Holiday in UAE from 10th August 2019 till 13th August 2019. As per the earlier announcement by the UAE cabinet, both the public and private sectors will have the same official holidays.
Eid Al Adha is celebrated across the globe by Muslims every year on 10th of the last month of Islamic/ Hijri calendar. The calculation of Islamic/ Hijri Calendar is based on the lunar cycle. Observation of the crescent marks the end of a month and therefore begins a new month. Each month consist of 29 or 30 days, which depended with the appearance of the crescent.
