Toll in Abu Dhabi as Salik in Dubai

On Thursday, 25th July 2019, The Transport authority of Abu Dhabi DoT (The Department of Transport – Abu Dhabi) and ITC (Integrated Transport Centre) has announced the Toll Gate system in the Emirates of Abu Dhabi on major bridges leading into Abu Dhabi. The Toll (The Salik in Abu Dhabi) will be active from 15th October 2019. The Toll will be 24*7 and will be automatically deducted from prepaid user account/the integrated electronic payment wallet (Same as Salik account of Dubai). Motorist has to stick the tag on windshield, Vehicles without the tag will be automatically identified by their plate numbers.

Locations:

The Toll (Salik in Abu Dhabi) will be collected through four Toll Gates:

1. Sheikh Zayed Bridge

Fees and Timings:

The fee will be AED 4 & AED 2. AED 4 for every pass during peak hours from Saturday – Thursday (7 AM – 9 AM & 5 PM – 7 PM). Off- peak hours, on Fridays and on public holidays the toll will be charged AED 2 for every pass. The Maximum daily fee will be AED 16 per vehicle.

Account registration:

The official system registration will start from 30th August 2019. Every motorist has to open a Toll (Salik) account, the user-friendly online system will allow to manage their own vehicle and process the payment. After registration, the account holder will receive an SMS with their user-name and password. Additional vehicles can be added to the account as required.

For the vehicles which are registered in other emirates, the owner must register before crossing the Toll (Salik) Gates. The user who have not registered will be given grace time of 10 business days, from the time of crossing the Toll Gates, the user must register in the system. In case of failure fines will be applied.

Fines/ Penalty:

The user needs to maintain sufficient credit in their respective accounts while crossing the Toll (Salik) Gate. Abu Dhabi registered vehicle may pay according to the post-payment system during any of the licensing procedure in case of insufficient balance.

Vehicles which are registered outside Abu Dhabi in case of insufficient credit, drivers will have five business days to recharge the account, or else fines will be applied as per regulations.

Fines will be as follows:

  • For crossing the Toll Gate without registration, after 10 working days will be AED 100 for the 1st day, AED 200 for 2nd day & AED 400 on 3rd day, up to maximum of AED 10,000.
  • For crossing Toll Gate with insufficient credit in the user’s account for outside Abu Dhabi registered vehicle and after grace time will be AED 50 each day.
  • In case of tampered vehicle license plate to evade Toll fees will be AED 10,000
  • In case of damaging the e-payment machines or Toll Gate will be AED 10,000.
